When Getting Lost Is A Good Thing!

We've lived in Iowa now for nearly 5 and a half years.  You would think that I'd know my way around by now, but nope.  I don't.  Everything pretty much looks the same - cornfield, bean field, small town, cornfield, bean field, big farm, small farm, cornfield - "Oh, look a cow!" - cornfield, bean field...  You're getting the picture, right?  Not that its a bad thing, but it is a bad thing when you get lost and have no clue where you're at.  And you're running late for your son's last jr. high football game for the season.  And your husband isn't answering his phone because he must be running a chainsaw.  And you've got 3 kids bouncing off the inside of your car like a bunch of mexican jumping beans.

Now, I have been to the town of New Hampton, Iowa several times in the last three years.  Now granted, the hubs was driving most of those times, but I have made the trip myself at least once.  Between wrestling tournaments, basketball tournaments, and football games, we've been there a dozen times at least.  In fact, I was just there weekend before last.  (Yes, I am blond.  No, I don't want to hear any jokes.)  But did I remember that its north up Hwy 63? Nooooooo....  I headed north up Hwy 218 and didn't realize my gaff until all of a sudden I looked at an exit sign and thought, "Charles City?  Charles City?  What the...????"  Thankfully, the hubs called right about time I was starting to hyperventilate, confirming I was at least headed in the right direction!  So, I had to head cross country due east 20 miles to get to where Greyson was getting ready to take the field.

And he had just been switched to Center, so I absolutely could not be late!  (I still can't get over how big he looks in pads!)

Anyway, back to my story...

We're about halfway to New Hampton when lo and behold, an antique store in the middle of nowhere!  I nearly gave myself whiplash looking back at it.  Stuff haphazardly piled around on the porch.  I spotted a white bookshelf trimmed in the prettiest blue, under the eaves in the short time it took me to whiz pass.  I seriously considered for about 2.5 seconds flipping a U-ey and going back.  Then the little man squawked about the diva taking his lollipop and I came back to earth.  No way was I heading in there with three children in tow.  And I'm pretty sure its against the law to tie them up and lock them in the car for a few hours.  ;)  Plus, there was that game...

So, guess here I'm headed today?  Thaaaaaat's right!  To the treasure trove.  Boy, I hope its open!  Did I think to look at the name?  Noooooooo.  But do I remember where its at?  Yeeeeeesssss!  I don't even need map.  I've got that sucker programmed into my little brain like I'm a homing pigeon.  I may be a glutton for punishment, but I am going to attempt to take a bull into the china shop - that would be the little man.  And hopefully, I'll come back with a few things to post for tomorrow's Friday's Finds.  Because right now, I don't have nuttin'.

Wish me luck!

Girl, you crack me up. Seriously. Like literally laughing, not just a "lol". I love it.
Yes, those are the buffets I was talking about. Thanks for the kick in the pants. I'm getting there. :)
I love getting "lost" that is when I don't have places to be.
Oh and go ahead, stalk away. ;)
