Biggest Time Suck EVER!

WOW!  Its amazing what you can get done when you don't have the internet to distract you!

Shortly after I posted my last blog, I knocked a bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper (THE drink, peeps!) off my desk and guess where it landed?  Yep.  That's right.  Right on top of my router.  KLUTZ!  I called myself six kinds of stupid and promptly stuck it into a bag of rice hoping that would suck the moisture out.  Nope.  Sure didn't.  Does that even really work?  So, we were without internet for two solid days until I could find the time to go buy a new router from our telephone company.  The boys on the otherhand are super-excited because we will now have wireless internet, which they can use for their iPads.  I guess its about time I got with the times, huh?

But wow, oh wow, how much stuff did I get done!  All five of the pieces I've been working on have now had 2 coats of primer and I'll be ready to put the color on tomorrow!  YIPPEE!  Technically, they're ready tonight, but life intrudes once again and we're off to the first home game of the varsity football season.

Let's go Go-Hawks!

I even amazed myself at how much I accomplished.  I was beginning to think I had ADD, since it was taking me so long to knuckle down and accomplish anything.  In fact, I'm seriously considering having the hubs take the router with him when he leaves in the mornings, so I can get stuff accomplished.  Can we say, "Biggest time-suck ever!"  I never really realized how much time that looking at other people's blogs and coveting their re-dos has cost me!  But what I really found interesting is that I wasn't suffering from Facebook withdrawals, but blog withdrawals!  I was wondering what all the bloggers I follow had been up to!  However, I'm totally limiting myself to 1 hour per day in the blogosphere.  Let's see what I can get done then!

So, here's what I got up to the last couple of days...

My solution for the end tables that didn't seem to want to be stripped...  I just sanded the heck out of them.  Although even then, the flat areas didn't seem to want to give up their stain and varnish.  Answer to that?  Prime the heck out of it too!  Three coats before it stopped bleeding through.  And why in the world didn't I use the electric sander that the hubs dug out of the barn for me 2 weeks ago is beyond me.  I love sanding now!  Its fun!

One coat of primer...

Three coats of primer...

And here's the rocking chair!  OMG.  She is looking FANTASTIC!  I can't wait to give this beauty some color, distressing, and waxing!

I am particularly proud of the job I did on the veneer.  SUH-WEET!  No one will ever be able to tell that a huge chunk was missing off the back!

And here's the boys' nightstands lined up and ready for some black paint:

And there's one more reason I need to light a fire under this booty...

The hubs has announced the walls in the diva's room as cured as they'll ever be.  Sunday is calling for perfect painting weather and we're going to get our primer on!  WOO-HOO!  So, I've got to clear her room of all the junk that I've accumulated to work on furniture. Now, we'll have to actually get the barn cleaned out so I can use it for a workshop!  Who ever thought I would use "I can use" and "workshop" in the same sentence????

I cannot wait to post pictures of all the completed furniture and the diva's room!  Lord willing, it'll be done by Monday evening.  Sounds like Labor Day is going to be all about laboring here at Little Big House on the Prairie and I'm looking forward to every minute of it!
