Actually I really like this time in the morning when I sit here and pound out
Sooooooooo....
Yesterday, I asked you what to do about that door.
You know...
This one:
Tanya @ Make The Best Of What's Around advised me to paint it the same color as the scale that's sitting on the table. Funny, because I had had that thought.
And then last night, she sent me this Pinterest pic via my Facebook page:

My initial reaction? "Ooooooooo! Aaaaaahhhhh!" That would be SWEET! With the green of the scale, of course. Thank you, Tanya! I love you! :D
So, then I had to go on a Pinterest search of my own. The only other one that I found that I really like is this door that pretty much everyone in the blogosphere is familiar with:

Why did it speak to me?
Well, of course because it shabby and fabulous. And the aqua is to. die. for. But also because it means I won't have to give that door an additional coat of primer. HA!!! There is no end to my laziness, is there? ;)
So, here's the question of the day to all you fabulous people that drop what you're doing to dish out advice to me on this blog or on my Facebook page... If I shabby the door, do I also distress the trim work to match??? Nothing that crazy, but just hit it around the edges for a slight distressing? Do I just leave it alone? What do you think?
I have to say that being on DAY NINE of this office makeover is wearing on me. I didn't get near as much accomplished yesterday as I had hoped. Where'd my "oomph" go? Hopefully, I'll get it back today.
Yesterday, I managed to get the base trim and door primered with its 1st coat and put the 2nd coat on the door and window trim. That stain just keeps bleeding through and bleeding through. And I do NOT want yellowed white trim. :P Hopefully, the 2nd coat did the trick. I haven't gotten up the courage to look yet. Probably because I'll kick something if it has bled through a 2nd time. LOL!
Today, I hope to get the second coat on the base trim and while that is drying, go ahead and start rolling the paint on the walls. Which will also take two coats because this plaster with its divots and dents takes twice as much paint as regular walls. Ugh. Then, I'll start painting the trim - which hopefully will not take two coats, as well. (Please, Lord????)
And don't even get me started on the organization part of the whole thing. I haven't even thought about that part yet. Hopefully, I can shoo half the people out of the house for a wrestling tournament or something, when it comes time for that. :D
So, that's where I'm at. But there's always a silver lining, right? If I finish by Monday I am wellllllll ahead of the deadline and that will give me two weeks to tweak it. See? There's the bright side. :)
Have a fantastic weekend y'all!
I say distress, but I know that anything you come up with is gonna be FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the distressed door next to the nice clean trim would look great! It will make the door stand out even more. Kind of like a frame around a pretty picture.(although, sometimes distressed frames are pretty cool, ha ha) Either way, I think it will look amazing. Thanks for mentioning me.
ReplyDeleteI see progress! It's coming along...yeah! I like the chippy door finish best.
ReplyDeleteOr you could also could do chalkboard and corkboard and a metal board on the raised panel door and covered fabric with twine to stick in photos on the raised panel door since it's gonna be hour office. Just like a design board!
p.s. i converted over to wordpress..follow my new blog so we can stay in touch.
Happy painting and designing!
Hugs,
Natalie
Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
