Serpentine Dresser {Reveal}

Yesterday was so stinkin' hot!

95* with a heat index of 105.

Which made for cranky, bored kids and a cranky mom because of the cranky kids.

What?

You don't think I'm talking about me, do ya?

I NEVER get cranky.

I don't know what you're talking about.

{innocent look}

So, said mother (that is not me) finished putting away the mounds of folded laundry that had accumulated to be folded over the last four weeks of ignoring it.

It took her 6 hours to fold it all.

She really hates laundry.

Really.

Really.

So that didn't send her to her happy place at all.

And she just couldn't figure out what was bothering her, when along came a tension headache and she just said the heck with it all and laid down for a little while.

And even after laying down for a little while,
she was still out of sorts.

Just plain ill.
(which is southern for cranky, in case you didn't know.)

About 9 p.m., she realized what was bothering her.

She hadn't been able to paint all day.

And since painting is relaxing to her, she was wound as tight as a drum.

So at about 10 p.m., said mother went out to her shop and commenced painting, since it was slightly cooler, but not quite cool enough to stop the sweat from dripping.

She didn't care.

She was painting.

And trying out her new CeCe Caldwell's Paint that came in the mail yesterday.

And since she was in such a hurry to get to painting,
the only before pictures you're going to get are this one:

And that one:

Because she totally wasn't putting the hardware back on and sticking the drawers in.

Said mother then cranked up the radio and went to town trying to transform the boring serpentine dresser (that is missing its original mirror) into something she could live with.

In fact, the only reason she bought it at an auction was because of its ridiculously cool lion head pulls and mismatched funky handles.

Otherwise, it really didn't have much to recommend itself.

But hey...  Those are some really cool pulls, especially with "Destin Gulf Green" slapped on them to imitate an aged patina and then partially sanded.

Don'tcha think?

Because of the lion head's she thought she might just call it "The Lion" dresser and paint it a bright "Carolina Sun Yellow".

Since she was having one of those What the Heck days (All.  Day.  Long.), she decided to get over her fear of over-distressing and just went ahead and distressed the ever-living daylights out it.

Obviously she hadn't taken the hint on the kind of day
she had had already.

And was up until 7:00 a.m. waiting for the sun to start to rise, so she could take the after pictures.

She's pretty sure she's lost her ever-lovin' mind.

Or maybe has turned into a true furniture painting fanatic.

Which could be a good thing.

She's okay with that.

But she wasn't okay with how it turned out in the end.

Merely...  Meh.

Meh.

That's all.

In fact, she may end up re-doing it.

Because...

It's meh.

And right now, she's just hoping she can stay awake for the rest of the day.

Know what I'm sayin'?

Because who in their right mind would stay up ALL night, just so they could get in some painting time out of the heat?

Only to wind up with...

MEH.

No one I know, that's for sure.  ;)

XO,

  6. oh, and we've all been there - thinking "meh" about a piece, but sometimes that's the one everyone loves! I like it. But I'm into yellow at the moment - going out on a limb and painting my shutters yellow right now! Proving my mom wrong, that it CAN look good.... I think.... haha
